CP Intensifies Crackdown on Bandits’ Routes and CampsIn a powerful strike against criminal activity, the FCT Police Command, alongside special forces from the Guards Brigade and DSS hunters, executed a well-coordinated raid on June 7, 2024, at approximately 10:00 AM.
Acting on credible intelligence, the operatives stormed identified kidnapper camps at Gidan Dogo and Kweti Forest, Kaduna State, bordering the FCT.
Operation led to the arrest of four suspects: Yahaya Abubakar, 25, of Mpape; Mohammed Mohamed, 32, an ex-convict from Zuba; Umar Aliyu, 20; and Nura Abdullahi, 32, also an ex-convict, apprehended at Kubwa and Zuba hills.
These individuals confessed to being members of the notorious ‘Mai One Million’ bandit syndicate, responsible for numerous kidnappings and other heinous crimes in the FCT and its environs.
Raid triggered a shootout, causing the bandits to flee and enabling the rescue of kidnapped victims, who have since been reunited with their families.
The illegally constructed hideouts were destroyed.CP Benneth C. Igweh lauded the security operatives’ efforts and reaffirmed the command’s dedication to ensuring the safety of FCT residents.
