Police Quell Late-Night Clash Between Students, Host Community in Bichi

Borno State Government

The Kano State Police Command has restored calm in Bichi after a minor clash broke out on Friday night between students of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Bichi, and members of the host community.

The incident, which occurred around 9:30 p.m. near the institution’s main gate, reportedly started when five students — identified as Buba Snu, Prince Snu, Kamal Snu, and two others now at large — allegedly attacked some residents with stones at the More Event Centre, located opposite the college.

Eyewitnesses said the confrontation sparked tension as angry residents chased the students back to the college premises before police officers from Bichi Division arrived and swiftly restored order.

“No life was lost, and no injuries were recorded. However, two vehicles belonging to the institution were damaged during the unrest,” a source disclosed.

Police patrol teams were immediately deployed to monitor the area, ensuring that the situation did not escalate further.

By Saturday morning, normalcy had fully returned, with both students and residents going about their activities peacefully.

The Kano State Police Command appealed to both parties to remain calm and shun acts that could threaten public peace, assuring that security personnel would maintain close surveillance to prevent a recurrence.
