A determined effort to enhance justice delivery and deepen respect for the rule of law, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has partnered with the Rule of Law and Empowerment Initiative, popularly known as Partners West Africa Nigeria (PWAN), to conduct a two-day intensive training workshop for its officers.
The training, held from October 30th to 31st, 2025, at the Alkali Baba Conference Hall, Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpanabia, Uyo, focused on the effective implementation of the Akwa Ibom State Administrative Criminal Justice Law, 2022, and other related legal frameworks.
Declaring the workshop open, the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, applauded PWAN for its continued collaboration with the Command, describing the initiative as a major step toward building a legally grounded and people-focused policing system.
According to him, the training would not only improve officers’ understanding of justice administration but also help reinforce public trust in the Police.
> “This initiative strengthens our security architecture by ensuring that every operation is guided by the rule of law,” Azare stated, urging participants to take advantage of the opportunity to sharpen their professional ethics and service delivery.
Representing PWAN, Ms. Aisha Abubakar expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for opening the doors of collaboration, assuring officers of a robust and engaging training experience.
Delivering her presentation, Ms. Abubakar underscored the vital role of law enforcement in ensuring justice, noting that “When you listen to a survivor’s story, you are holding their hope for justice in your hand.”
She reminded participants that police officers are the “most visible face of justice”, emphasizing that “delaying justice is denying justice.” She called on the officers to become ambassadors of positive change and uphold the highest standards of professionalism in their duties.
In his closing remarks, CP Azare thanked PWAN for its invaluable partnership, assuring participants of the Command’s continued investment in training and welfare. He expressed optimism that the workshop would have a lasting impact on policing standards and justice delivery across Akwa Ibom State.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to continuous capacity building in line with best global policing practices and the pursuit of justice for all citizens.
