The Yobe State Police Command wishes to inform the public that on 17th October 2025, at about 0700hrs, the command, received a report from one Yusuf Sarkin Baka, a resident of Sabon Daula Ward, Bade Local Government Area, concerning a lifeless female body discovered near the fence of the Federal University Gashua.
Upon receipt of the report, a team of police operatives from Gashua Division swiftly visited the scene for on-the-spot assessment. The victim, identified as one Falmata Abubakar, aged 45 years, a resident of Abasha, Sarkin Hausawa Ward, Gashua, was found dressed in a black hijab.
The body was immediately evacuated to the Specialist Hospital, Gashua, where it was examined and confirmed dead by a medical doctor. Preliminary investigation was initiated, and the corpse was later released to her family after autopsy for proper burial according to Islamic rites.
Further investigation revealed that the deceased was transported in a vehicle and dumped at the location where she was found — approximately two kilometres away from her residence. This new finding has intensified efforts by detectives to identify and apprehend the perpetrators behind the act.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, psc, fdc, has assured the public of a thorough and professional investigation aimed at uncovering the circumstances surrounding the incident and bringing those responsible to justice.
Meanwhile, the Command calls for calm and cooperation from members of the public, urging anyone with useful information related to the case to report to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency contacts.
The Command reiterates its commitment to public safety, protection of lives and property, and maintaining peace and order across the state.
