A serving police inspector in Lagos has landed in hot water after allegedly defrauding a complainant of ₦915,000 in a failed rice supply deal.q
According to sources, the case was reported on September 11 around 2:34 p.m. The complainant, whose identity was withheld, had in January 2024 entrusted the officer, attached to the Lagos State Command, with ₦915,000 to supply 20 bags of rice.
Instead of delivering the rice, the officer allegedly disappeared, only to be tracked down months later at her residence in the Olusosun area of Ojota. She was promptly arrested and taken to the station.
On interrogation, the officer reportedly admitted to the fraud and is currently in custody as disciplinary procedures commence.
Police authorities confirmed that investigations are still ongoing.
