DSP Mohammed Ladan, a dedicated police officer in Jakusko Local Government Area, Yobe State, has brightened the Sallah celebrations for 140 orphans by providing them with new clothes and support worth over ₦1.5 million.
Speaking at the event, DSP Ladan, aided by his wife Hajiya Nadiya, emphasized that the gesture was driven by compassion, not his official role, aiming to ensure that orphans feel included and celebrated like other children.
“I want these children to know they are not forgotten. They deserve to enjoy Sallah with joy and dignity,” he said, urging wealthy individuals to assist vulnerable members of the community, especially during festive seasons.
About 90 girls received a wrapper and clothing allowance, while 50 boys were given fabric to be tailored, ensuring each child could celebrate in style. The event was attended by prominent Jakusko dignitaries, including the Lawani and the Chief Imam, who praised DSP Ladan’s rare act of kindness.
One grateful beneficiary, Auwal Ibrahim, expressed heartfelt thanks, noting that the support came at a time when it was most needed. Residents of Jakusko lauded the officer’s generosity, praying for Allah’s blessings on him.
DSP Ladan’s gesture stands as a shining example of how law enforcement officers can extend their service beyond duty, touching lives and spreading joy in their communities.
