The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two suspected cultists in Uyo, seizing dangerous weapons and items linked to the notorious Black Axe confraternity.
Acting on a tip-off at about 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2025, operatives stormed Iyah Street, Uyo, where they apprehended two men identified as Donald Iwat and Daniel Bruno.
A search on the suspects uncovered a cache of incriminating items, including:One jack knife,walkie-talkie radio,Gunpowder,bullet-proof charm and Two face caps branded with the Black Axe insignia,Two machetes also a police lanyard
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the arrest, noting that investigations are ongoing to establish the suspects’ links to wider criminal networks.
“The Command remains resolute in its fight against cultism and violent crime. We urge members of the public to continue providing credible information that will aid law enforcement,” she stated.
The arrest underscores growing police efforts to dismantle cult groups across Akwa Ibom, as security agencies intensify crackdowns on violent gangs threatening peace in the state.
