The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has scored another victory against crime, following the arrest of a suspect in possession of suspected stolen automotive parts along Abak Road, Uyo.
According to the Command, the operation took place on Monday, August 26, 2025, at about 11:00 a.m., when a routine patrol team flagged down a Toyota Corolla with registration number BRS 03 AJ.
On searching the vehicle, officers discovered a cache of items believed to have been stolen. Among the recovered exhibits were two truck batteries, seven motor batteries, several motor catalysts, a motor condenser, and an alternator. Other valuable parts were also seized.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Ugochukwu Igwe, was immediately arrested and taken into custody. He is currently undergoing interrogation as investigations continue.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, LLB, Anipr, confirmed the arrest, assuring the public of the Command’s resolve under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare to rid the state of criminals and safeguard lives and property.
The Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide useful information that will aid law enforcement in tackling crime.
