Police Nab Seven in Cult Assault, Recover Gun, Human Skull

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested seven suspected members of the proscribed Ku Klux Klans Confraternity over a brutal cult-related assault, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a firearm and human skull.

According to police authorities, the suspects ambushed a student of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, on August 25, 2025. The victim, who had renounced his membership of the group, was attacked with dangerous weapons, left unconscious, and dispossessed of his Redmi 13C Android phone and ₦41,000.

Following intelligence-led operations on August 28, operatives swooped on the gang, arresting:

Douglas Ambe Esikhene, Stephen Asukwo Effiong, Saviour Dany Akpan, Emmanuel Friday Umoh,Augustine Uduak Okon, Mary Ating Asukwo and Itohowo Christopher Uko.

A raid on their hideout yielded a cache of incriminating items, including a locally made short gun, seven live cartridges, a fresh human skull, a bottle of black oil, and a bottle of Guyanese oil suspected to be used for rituals.

Police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the arrests, adding that investigations are ongoing to track down fleeing accomplices and recover more exhibits.

“The Command remains resolute in its determination to rid the state of cultism and other criminal activities,” she assured.
