UYO — Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested a suspected notorious armed robbery suspect believed to be terrorizing residents along Abak Road and surrounding areas in Uyo Local Government Area.
The suspect, identified as Abraham Etuk, was apprehended at about 11:30 a.m. on February 20, 2026, following credible intelligence gathered by security operatives as part of an intensified crackdown on violent crimes across the state.
Police sources revealed that preliminary investigations link the suspect to a criminal gang allegedly responsible for a string of attacks and robberies targeting unsuspecting residents within the Abak Road axis and its environs.
A search conducted at the point of arrest led to the recovery of:
Three mobile phones
One machete
One locally made pistol
The suspect is currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing to track down fleeing gang members and recover additional operational weapons. Authorities confirmed that he will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements and safeguarding lives and property.
