In a major breakthrough against violent crime, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a notorious kidnap suspect linked to several high-profile abductions across the state.
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives stormed Ube village, Okobo Local Government Area, on August 13, 2025, and apprehended Okon Asuquo Udo, a suspect long on the Command’s wanted list.
Police investigations reveal Udo’s alleged involvement in the October 2024 kidnap of a Paramount Ruler and the November 2024 abduction of an Executive Chairman’s wife, along with multiple other kidnappings in Oron, Mbo, and Okobo LGAs.
After months on the run, the suspect was finally caught in his home village. The Command confirmed that discreet investigations are ongoing to track down his accomplices and recover their weapons.
The arrest marks a decisive step in dismantling kidnap gangs terrorizing parts of Akwa Ibom, with police assuring residents of sustained security operations.
