The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has intercepted a daring act of vandalism in Uyo, recovering a stolen telecommunications mast and arresting one suspect linked to the crime.

According to the Command, the incident occurred around 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, when a patrol team acting on credible intelligence stormed Obong Sampson Idiong Drive. A gang of vandals was reportedly loading a dismantled telecom mast into a green Isuzu truck with registration number AFG 517 XA.

On sighting the operatives, the suspects fled the scene, abandoning both the truck and the stolen mast. However, swift pursuit by the patrol team led to the arrest of Amisu Bala, 30, who is now in custody and assisting investigators with crucial information about the syndicate.
