Police Foil Midnight Abduction in Kano, One Killed in Gun Battle

Borno State Government

Security operatives have foiled a late-night abduction attempt in Rantan Village, Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State, rescuing two victims, though one resident tragically lost his life during the attack.

Sources said the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on March 2, after authorities received a distress call reporting armed men invading a home in the quiet rural community.

According to security officials, about 15 hoodlums stormed the residence of one Fulani Bakwai and abducted him alongside his neighbour, Mohd Bello.

“In the course of the attack, the assailants shot Musa Mohd Bello, 25, in the left leg when he attempted to resist,” a source disclosed.

Operatives, working in collaboration with local vigilante members, swiftly mobilised to the scene and launched a pursuit of the fleeing suspects. The joint security team successfully rescued the abducted victims as the attackers escaped into nearby bushes under pressure.

The injured Musa Mohd Bello was rushed to Tiga General Hospital for urgent medical attention but was later confirmed dead by doctors. His remains have since been released to his family for burial.

Authorities confirmed that normalcy has been restored in Rantan Village, while security patrols have been intensified across Bebeji axis to prevent further incidents.

Efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects as investigation into the foiled abduction continues.
