The Borno State Police Command has thwarted a kidnapping attempt in Sabon Gari Lassa, Askira Uba Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of a locally made pistol.
According to intelligence sources, the incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on February 20, when four armed men stormed the residence of Mohammed Abubakar in a bid to abduct him. However, the victim fought back with a cutlass, forcing the assailants to flee.
At about 6:00 a.m., following a distress call from the victim, a combined team of police operatives and local vigilantes launched a manhunt, tracing the suspects’ footprints to a nearby hideout. The swift operation led to the arrest of three suspects: Salisu Hussain, Buhari Hussaini, and Umar Bello, all residents of Gajali Village in Askira Uba LGA.
A locally made pistol was recovered from the suspects, while security operatives continue investigations to apprehend the remaining accomplices and uncover any links to other criminal activities.
Commending the swift response of security personnel, the Borno State Police Command urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
