The Federal Capital Territory FCT Police Command has thwarted a robbery at Gwagwalada Motor Park, arresting one suspect while others managed to escape.
According to intelligence sources, the attack occurred on Thursday around 7:25 p.m. when a gang of 15 armed hoodlums stormed the park, targeting commuters and traders. A swift distress call alerted the police, who immediately deployed a surveillance team to the scene.
Sensing the presence of law enforcement, the criminals abandoned a Golf 3 vehicle with registration number RSH 193 DB and fled in different directions. One suspect was captured but suffered a mob beating before being rescued and taken to Asokoro Hospital for medical attention.
Weapons were recovered from the abandoned vehicle, which has been impounded as investigations continue. The police have assured residents of intensified efforts to track down the fleeing gang members and enhance security in the area.
