Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its fight against crime with the arrest of a 26-year-old suspect linked to a foiled defilement and armed robbery attempt.
The suspect, identified as Happiness Alphonsus Iseyen from Ini Local Government Area, was apprehended on Thursday, August 28, 2025, following a timely tip-off from a vigilant resident. Detectives moved swiftly and arrested him at about 1:40 p.m., recovering a locally made pistol and one cartridge in the process.
Police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued yesterday, noting that discreet investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the gang and recover additional weapons.
“The Command remains resolute in protecting lives and property. We encourage residents to continue supporting us with credible information,” she said.
The arrest has sparked relief among residents, who praised the swift response of the police in averting what could have been another violent incident in the state.
