Swift police action has thwarted a bandit attack along the Sabuwa–Kaya road in Katsina State, with four kidnapped victims rescued unhurt after a fierce gun battle.
The operation, which took place near Unguwar Liman village in Sabuwa, saw armed bandits block the highway and abduct travellers before security forces struck back.
Acting on distress calls, the Divisional Police Officer mobilised tactical teams who engaged the attackers in a shootout, forcing them to flee into the forest with suspected gunshot wounds.
All victims were successfully freed during the operation and confirmed to be in stable condition.
Security sources revealed that the area has since been cordoned off, with clearance operations underway to track down the fleeing criminals and restore full safety along the route.
