Police assured of peaceful polls as campaigns begins.

Commissioner of Police Borno State Command Abdu Umar has reiterated the Command’s determination of providing enabling environment and Crime free Political Campaigns by Political Parties as INEC lifted the ban on Political activities across the Country.
CP Abdu Umar stated this at a monthly interactions with the Area Commanders, heads of department and Divisional Police Officers within the Command with a view to review policy strategies and internal security development partaining the dynamics of crime in the State.
He said the meeting was also to review the Security architecture with the involving Political programmes as laid out by INEC and to take measures for the successes of 2023 polls.
CP Abdu Umar stressed that the Command would commence intensive security coverage, been the lead Security agency in the Political process.
The Commissioner of Police reminded Officers and Men of the Command on their rules of engagement throughout the Campaigns and electioneering period by observing electoral act, code of conduct, fair play, traffic and crowd control management in venues of Political Campaigns, rallies and other related Political matters.
He explained that the credibility of 2023 general elections could be measured by the extend of Police Personnel abide by these professional and legal standards.
CP Abdu Umar assured to put in place appropriate machinaries in order to ensure successes of the 2023 general elections.
He called on heads of department and DPOs to liase with Political Parties in their various areas of responsibility for a smooth Campaigns, and directed that Political Parties should inform Police of their Political activities atleast 24 hours before, putting into consideration date, time and venue to address possible conflict.
The Commissioner of Police Borno State Command however ban any gang of Youths, thugs carrying matchets, daggers and e.t.c. accompanying any Political activities throughout Borno State.
He added that the Command deployed over one thousand eight hundred trained Constables as volunteers to augurment the Command’s mandate of protecting lives and properties in Borno State.
