The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a Chinese national, identified as Joe Gu, in connection with the recent improvised explosive device (IED) explosion that rocked a CCTV camera dealer’s shop on Kodesho Street, Ikeja.
According to security sources quoted by Zagazola Makama, detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, apprehended the suspect at about 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at his residence located at No. A11, Bila Vista, Banana Island, Ikoyi.
The arrest followed ongoing discreet investigations into the explosion incident, after the complainant reportedly identified the Chinese national as the prime suspect.
Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect and the complainant were former business partners whose relationship soured in 2013 following a dispute. During the fallout, Gu allegedly issued threats to disrupt his former associate’s business operations.
Police sources said the suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue to determine his level of involvement and possible motive behind the explosion.
The Lagos State Police Command has assured the public that updates on the investigation will be communicated as they unfold, reaffirming its commitment to uncovering the full circumstances surrounding the incident and ensuring justice is served.
