Revitalizing Energy and InfrastructureBuhari’s administration initiated the 614 km Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline, a key part of Nigeria’s Gas Master Plan.
He also provided substantial support for the Kaduna Refinery’s rehabilitation and advanced the Kolmani oil field project in Bauchi and Gombe.
Rail projects, such as the Kano-Katsina-Jigawa-Maradi line and the Kano-Kaduna standard gauge rail, have enhanced connectivity, linking Kano to Abuja and Lagos.
Critical power projects, including the Zungeru, Kashimbila, and Dadin Kowa plants, were completed, and the Maiduguri gas power plant was initiated.
Buhari’s administration allocated billions for agricultural interventions, aiming to bolster the northern economy. Despite criticisms, his decision to close borders was intended to drive agricultural self-sufficiency across Nigeria and its neighbors.
Roads and PortsNumerous road projects were completed or advanced, such as the Kano-Maiduguri road, Kano-Katsina road, and the dual carriageway from Abuja to Kano. Inland ports in Kaduna, Kano, and Funtua have improved trade logistics.
Buhari strategically appointed individuals to key positions across various ministries, enhancing the region’s development and governance.
These initiatives showcase Muhammadu Buhari’s dedication to preparing the North for future advancements and fostering a unified Nigeria.
Despite the critics, his legacy of national progress and regional development speaks volumes.
