The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has uncovered a looming plot to disrupt economic activities in Eastern Obolo Local Government Area, raising fresh security concerns in the oil-rich community.
In a strongly worded statement, Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, warned that intelligence reports point to a coordinated scheme involving some traditional rulers, politicians, and youth leaders aimed at inciting unrest and crippling lawful business operations.
Describing the move as a direct threat to livelihoods and economic stability, the Command vowed zero tolerance for any act capable of sabotaging critical activities in the area.
“The Police are closely monitoring the situation and will act decisively,” Azare declared, warning that anyone found culpable—regardless of status—will be arrested and prosecuted.
The Command also reaffirmed its readiness to protect key infrastructure, particularly Federal Government energy assets, stressing that no individual or group would be allowed to derail economic progress in Eastern Obolo.
Residents, community leaders, and parents were urged to caution their wards against involvement in unlawful acts, as the Police warned of severe consequences.
The Command called on the public to remain law-abiding and support security agencies with timely information to avert any breakdown of law and order.
