The Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Edo State, Jarret Tenebe, has warned that the unrelenting attempts to discredit and blackmail the state government by a faction of the Edo Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aimed at scuttling governance and causing crisis in the state.
Tenebe, in a statement titled: “Factional PDP: A Security Threat to Governance in Edo State,” made available to newsmen at the weekend, urged that “the narcissistic factional PDP Caretaker Committee should engage in constructive dialogue and seek solutions that promote the well-being of all Edo State citizens.”
He said Edo people are aware of PDP’s tactics and are not swayed by the party’s allegations.
Noting that the opposition party lacked a genuine concern for the welfare of the people, Tenebe called on the citizens to refuse to be taken for a ride by some people of questionable character.
According to him, “the same delusional factional PDP was deaf and and blind to all the constitutional breaches and atrocities committed by the Obaseki-led regime. May Obaseki and the PDP not happen to Edo State again.”
Reassuring the full support of the ruling APC for the suspension of 18 embattled council chairmen by the House of Assembly, Tenebe urged the various anti-graft agencies to recover the funds reportedly misappropriated by the suspended chairmen.
“We also support steps taken by councillors across the various local government councils in the State, who have decided to save their people, by impeaching the corrupt and inept suspended chairmen.
“Governor Monday Okpebholo has a clear mandate. No distractions or blackmail can stop him. While we concede that as an opposition party, the factional chapter of the PDP can critique the activities of the Government, we will however, not allow the depleted narcissistic party to twist facts and wrongly accuse Governor Okpebholo.
Enough is enough,” he stated.
