Segun Showunmi, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and convener of The Alternative Movement, on Friday organized a 40-day Fidau prayer in memory of the late former President, Muhammadu Buhari.
The solemn prayer session, held at Keesi Town Hall in Abeokuta, Ogun State, drew politicians, clerics, and community leaders who gathered to pay their respects.
In a show of national honor, a similar Fidau prayer was also conducted in Katsina, the home state of the late former President, where family members, friends, and supporters joined in prayers for the repose of his soul.
Showunmi described Buhari as a leader whose life and service to Nigeria would continue to be remembered, noting that the prayers were organized to uphold Islamic tradition and to seek Allah’s mercy for the deceased.
