….As CP Gumel marks his one year in office with alot of achievements

Kano State commissioner of Police CP Muhammad Usaini Gumel has said the Police Command under his watch was arrested and prosecuted more than 3,000 criminals for various offences in the last one year.
The offences which the Commissioner of Police said, included kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery, human trafficking, illicit drug dealings and thuggery.
He also listed His achievements during an interactive session with Journalist on Thuesday as part of activities marking his one year in office on Thursday.
Within the period, he said, the command had also received and profiled a total of 623 repentant thugs,whom are currently engaged by the State Government in various life-changing empowerment programmes.
According to the commissioner, the command had also in the last one year, flushed out criminals who occupied the historic Dala Hill and used it as a hideout and enclave from where they launched mayhem and various criminal activities against the people of the state.
” the criminals had not only attempted to destroy a major symbol of Kano’s history – Dala Hill, but almost destroyed a world-class tourist attraction, a source of wealth creation, and revenue generation in the state.
“Thus far, the intervention of the Police Command has made the historic site safe and secure for all residents of the area, visitors, and the people of Kano State,” he said.
Under the Inspector General of Police Safe Schools Initiative aimed at improving the security of lives and property, especially the safety of schools and students, Gumel said,the command launched the School Protection Squad (SPS) to provide adequate security extended to all schools across the State, especially along borders with other states.
“The SPS, comprised of sixty (60) personnel, was provided with the tools for the task and dispatched to intensify and establish robust patrols around all primary and secondary schools, and tertiary institutions across each senatorial district in the state.”
“All thanks and glory are due to Allah (SWT) for granting me the opportunity to stand before you today in commemoration of my first anniversary since assuming office on 2nd May 2024 as the Command’s Commissioner of Police, to reflect on our success story and challenges.
The Commissioner also confess that it has been a privileged opportunity given to me by the Inspector General of Police, through which I am serving the community with enormous cooperation from the good people of the State.
