In a bold declaration aimed at reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to global peace, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has told the international community that the country has “no business whatsoever” with nuclear weapons, insisting that its only battle is against poverty, inequality, and underdevelopment.
Speaking on behalf of the government, a top-ranking official stated on Sunday that Nigeria remains focused on building prosperity for its citizens rather than engaging in any arms race or nuclear ambition.
“Nigeria is not in any race to develop or stockpile nuclear weapons. Our true war is against poverty, not humanity,” the official affirmed.
The statement comes amid rising global concerns over nuclear proliferation and the strategic ambitions of developing nations. The Tinubu administration’s firm stance is seen as a reassurance of Nigeria’s long-standing foreign policy posture rooted in diplomacy, cooperation, and peace.
