The leadership caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has thrown its full weight behind Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, vowing to stand by him in any political direction he chooses to take.
This unanimous declaration came during a high-level meeting held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Osogbo, as confirmed in a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.
According to the statement, party leaders from various arms of government and the party structure passed a vote of confidence in the Governor and expressed readiness to follow him should he decide to leave the PDP, amid ongoing speculation about a possible defection.
“The Osun PDP leadership caucus has resolved to support Governor Adeleke unconditionally and align with whatever political decision he eventually takes. The Governor was commended for his performance in office and encouraged to continue consulting widely,” the statement read.
Present at the meeting were key figures including the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; Deputy Senate Minority Leader, Senator Lere Oyewumi; PDP South-West Vice Chairman, Engr Kamorudeen Ajisafe; Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Kazeem Akinleye; and former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, among others.
The gathering featured representatives from the National Assembly, State House of Assembly, PDP state executives, the ALGON leadership, special advisers, and other notable stakeholders.
While the Governor reportedly assured attendees that consultations with party leaders and national stakeholders were still ongoing, the collective stance of the caucus clearly signals a unified front behind Adeleke—whatever path he decides to pursue next.
