Troops of the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have intensified their onslaught against insurgents under Operation DESERT SANITY V, neutralising terrorists and recovering arms and logistics in coordinated offensives across the North East theatre.

In a press release issued on February 14, 2026, and signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, the Joint Task Force confirmed that troops sustained offensive pressure in multiple sectors, recording what it described as “significant operational successes.”

In Sector 2, troops working in close synergy with the Civilian Joint Task Force launched a night operation around Muktum and Ngirbuwa villages, where they engaged and neutralised scores of terrorists.

During the fierce encounter, two AK-47 rifles, three motorcycles and mobile phones were recovered from the fleeing insurgents.

Further exploitation along the terrorists’ withdrawal routes revealed drag marks and a shallow grave — grim indicators suggesting additional enemy casualties inflicted during the assault.

Military sources described the operation as a “well-coordinated strike” aimed at dismantling terrorist enclaves and cutting off mobility corridors used for attacks and logistics movements.

In a related development, troops of Sector 1 intercepted fleeing terrorists along the Bulayobe–Darel Jamel axis as they attempted to cross the Main Supply Route.

The insurgents, overwhelmed by superior firepower, reportedly fled in disarray, abandoning two sacks containing assorted logistics items believed to be supplies destined for terrorist elements.

Security analysts say disrupting logistics chains remains critical to degrading the operational capacity of insurgent groups operating in the region.

Although the general security atmosphere across the theatre is described as calm, military authorities caution that the environment remains unpredictable.

Nevertheless, troop morale and fighting efficiency remain high, with forces maintaining dominance across their areas of responsibility and frustrating terrorist attempts to regroup or launch fresh attacks.

Operation HADIN KAI reiterated its unwavering resolve to sustain pressure on Boko Haram and ISWAP elements until lasting peace and economic stability are fully restored in the North East.

The latest victories under Operation DESERT SANITY V signal a renewed momentum in the counter-insurgency campaign, reinforcing the military’s commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and reclaiming vulnerable communities.

As offensives intensify, residents across the region are watching closely — hopeful that sustained military pressure will finally silence the guns and usher in enduring stability.
