Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have intensified their relentless push against insurgency in Borno State, dealing fresh blows to Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters through coordinated offensives, clearance raids and intelligence-led strikes.
In a major breakthrough under Operation DESERT SANITY V, sustained pressure along the Azir–Wajiroko axis on January 10, 2026, forced 11 armed terrorists to surrender, handing over their AK-47 rifles and assorted ammunition. Military sources said the development underscored the growing impact of sustained ground dominance by OPHK troops.
Barely a day earlier, on January 9, troops stormed the Bulaagalda cluster in a sweeping clearance operation, flattening multiple active terrorist enclaves at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile. Among the camps destroyed were the notorious Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed strongholds, long used as hubs for planning and logistics.
During the raid, soldiers dismantled life-support facilities, crippled insurgent supply chains and recovered terrorist flags, weapons and loaded magazines. Similar assaults in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas sent fleeing fighters into disarray, leading to the destruction of additional logistics bases and the seizure of arms, ammunition and a general-purpose machine gun.
In another intelligence-driven encounter between Sojiri and Kayamla villages, OPHK troops neutralised eight terrorists and recovered AK-47 rifles after a fierce exchange. Meanwhile, two suspected logistics collaborators were arrested in Gubio Local Government Area for allegedly supplying materials to the insurgents.
Military authorities say troops remain firmly committed to sustaining the offensive tempo, dismantling terror networks and restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East.
