In a determined effort to stamp out banditry, troops of 1 Brigade and Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North West) Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) have scored a significant victory in Zamfara State.
On August 16th, 2024, under the command of Brigadier General TM Opurum, the troops engaged and neutralized two notorious bandits during a fierce encounter in the Unguwar Sarkin Musulmi area of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.
Responding swiftly to credible intelligence, the troops launched an assault on the Violent Extremist elements, who were caught off guard.
The intense gun battle left two bandits dead, while others fled in disarray. A subsequent mop-up operation led to the recovery of an operational motorcycle belonging to the extremists.
With the area now secured, Operation Hadarin Daji troops continue to maintain a strong presence, conducting confidence-building patrols to safeguard the local community.
This operation underscores the ongoing commitment of the Nigerian Army to eradicate banditry and restore lasting peace to Zamfara State.
