I commend your tireless efforts in revamping Abuja’s road infrastructure. However, as we celebrate these achievements, an urgent issue requires your attention: the need for robust road management and regulation in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Abuja’s roads, though improving, are plagued by chaotic traffic due to unregulated practices like private car owners and truck drivers picking up passengers indiscriminately. This not only exacerbates congestion but also poses safety hazards, eroding the quality of life for FCT residents.
The solution lies not just in better roads but in implementing stricter traffic regulations and introducing traffic marshals, particularly during peak hours. These marshals, potentially drawn from the youth, would not only manage traffic but also instill a sense of community responsibility.
Moreover, leveraging technology—such as real-time traffic monitoring and intelligent signals—can streamline road management, reduce congestion, and ensure smoother travel across the city. Public awareness campaigns and community involvement are also key to fostering responsible road use.
Minister Wike, your leadership has brought significant improvements to Abuja. Now, let’s ensure that these roads are used efficiently and safely. Together, we can transform Abuja’s transportation network into one that truly benefits all.
