Prominent activist, Aisha Yesufu, has ignited fresh political controversy with a scathing critique of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accusing the electoral body of abandoning its neutrality and acting in favour of the ruling party.
In a strongly worded statement, Yesufu declared, “The only independent in INEC is the ‘I’ in it,” alleging that the commission has consistently demonstrated partisan tendencies.
She further claimed that INEC’s conduct in recent electoral processes suggests it is “almost as if it’s an arm” of the All Progressives Congress (APC), raising concerns about the credibility of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
