Akure – A Nigerian Police Inspector in Ondo State has been demoted to the rank of Sergeant after being found guilty of absenteeism from duty.
The officer, whose identity has not been disclosed, faced an internal disciplinary panel after repeated instances of neglecting his post, a violation of the Force’s code of conduct. Authorities say the decision reflects the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to professionalism and accountability.
“This serves as a warning to all officers that dereliction of duty will not be tolerated,” a senior police source stated.
The demotion underscores the ongoing efforts to instill discipline within the force as part of broader reforms aimed at improving security operations across the country.
