
The Director General of the National Youth Service Corp Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim has warned corp members against the use of social media to spread fake news, ignite hatred and other negative tendencies.
The NYSC Director General stated this during the swearing in of the 2022 Bach A stream II Corp members posted to Yobe held at the Dazigau Orientation camp in Nangere local government area of Yobe state.
The Director General of the NYSC Majo General Shaibu Ibrahim represented by the Yobe state coordinator Hajiya Hafsat Yarima said the social media can be used to promote national unity and development as against using it for negative purposes capable of causing disharmony and other forms of conflicts.
Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim also requested the corp members to participate is all camp activities and to distance themselves from cultism, drug abuse and other social vices.
He equally asked them to take advantage of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development SAED programme of the scheme to become self employed instead of waiting for white-collar jobs that were not readily available
Similar, the Director General of the NYSC also appealed to the corp member to strictly adhere to COVID-19 preventive measures such as physical distancing, wearing of face mask and the use of hand washing facilities provided at strategic locations throughout the orientation period.
Some of the newly posted corp members expressed their readiness to serve their father land.
The oath taking for the one thousand one hundred and ninety eight corp members was administered by Justice Karimatu Bulama Yusuf on behalf of the Yobe state Chief Judge.
