NUJ Katsina Sets Up Credentials Committee for 2026 Elections

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Katsina State Council, has constituted a six-member Credentials Committee to oversee preparations for its forthcoming 2026 transition and election process.

Committee, chaired by Abdullahi Muhammad Tanko of the Correspondents’ Chapel, is tasked with conducting the screening of aspirants and safeguarding the credibility of the electoral roll ahead of the union’s leadership transition.

The development was disclosed in a letter issued by the Council Secretary, Abdulatif Yusuf.

Other members of the committee include Hannatu Mohammed of Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Katsina, Dahiru Dankaro of the State Radio Service, Rabe Ali Ja of Companion FM Katsina, and Rabi’u Ibrahim of the Ministry of Information, while Nasiru Sani Gide of KTTV will serve as Secretary.

According to the council, the constitution of the committee is in line with Article 5 (9) (a–g), (11) and (12) of the NUJ Constitution guiding the conduct of union elections.

Among its key responsibilities are the preparation of the election timetable, publication of the list of screened candidates, and compilation of the authentic delegates’ list from the various chapels across the state.

The council leadership expressed confidence that the committee will discharge its responsibilities with diligence and ensure a transparent, credible and hitch-free electoral process.
