The Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Borno State Council, has extended its “warmest congratulations” to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for being honored with the “Media Friendly Governor” award by the national leadership of the NUJ.
The prestigious award was presented to Governor Zulum during the ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the NUJ in Nigeria.
The Chairman of Borno State Council of the NUJ, Comrade Abdulkareem Haruna, has on behalf of the members lauded Governor Zulum’s “unwavering commitment to fostering a conducive environment for journalism and media practice in Borno State.” The union specifically highlighted his administration’s ”consistent support for press freedom, access to information, and the safety and welfare of journalists.”
According to the NUJ, the award is a “testament to His Excellency’s exceptional leadership and his understanding of the crucial role the media plays in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance.” It also acknowledges the “cordial and mutually respectful relationship” between the Borno State Government and the media community.
The union expressed pride in partnering with Governor Zulum’s administration and reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating on “promoting responsible journalism and advancing the development of Borno State.”
