The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Katsina State Command, has arrested a 37-year-old woman over an alleged case of child assault and battery in Mashi Local Government Area.
Acting on credible intelligence, the State Commandant, CC AD Moriki, ordered a swift and thorough investigation into the incident. Operatives of the Corps on Wednesday apprehended the suspect, Hauwa’u Gwaska, a resident of Unguwar Gabas, Mashi.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect, who is a guardian and relative of the victim’s father, allegedly subjected the minor, identified as Azima Abubakar, to repeated physical assault. During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to the act, attributing it to anger.
NSCDC said the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue, assuring that due process will be followed to ensure justice. The Command cautioned parents and guardians to exercise restraint and avoid excessive force while correcting children.
Commending the public for its cooperation, Commandant Moriki called for sustained collaboration and vigilance, urging residents to support the Corps with timely and credible intelligence to enhance security and protect lives and property across the state.
