NSCDC Nabs 400-Level Student for Vandalizing Electric Fittings at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University

In a significant security operation, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in collaboration with Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU), Katsina, has apprehended a 400-level student for suspected vandalism of electric fittings in the male hostel.

Gaddafi Sani, 25, from Kuringafa Kofar Fada in Kafur Local Government Area, was caught by the special Antivandal team after he allegedly removed electric wires from a room in Block ‘D’ of the male hostel.

Sani confessed to the crime, stating that on June 4th, he had entered the hostel and removed cables from the ceiling.

The arrest came after a university staff member spotted Sani attempting to escape with the stolen wires and handed him over to hostel security personnel. Prior to this incident, the university had reported three similar cases of vandalism.

The suspect will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation.DSC Buhari Hamisu, the Public Relations Officer of NSCDC Katsina Command, emphasized the importance of public cooperation with security agencies and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining security and uncovering criminal activities in the state.
