The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Katsina State Command, has recorded yet another success in its fight against crime with the arrest of a suspected vandal at the Federal Housing Estate, Gidan Kwakwa, Katsina.
Under the proactive leadership of Commandant Jamilu Abdu Indabawa, the Command’s Antivandal Unit, led by CSC Musa Adam Usman, intensified its operations through enhanced surveillance and robust community engagement. This strategy led to the apprehension of a 28-year-old suspect, Shamsudeen Umar, of Kofar Sauri quarters, while attempting to transport a stolen flash door in the Kukar Gesa area.
Details of the Arrest
During interrogation, Shamsudeen Umar confessed to vandalizing a house in the Federal Housing Estate on November 28, 2024. He admitted to removing a flash door and attempting to sell it at Kukar Gesa, where his suspicious movements led to his capture.
Further investigations revealed that the suspect had a history of vandalism in the same estate. On October 25, 2024, three stolen doors were recovered from him by the community, although the incident was not reported to the NSCDC.

The suspect will face prosecution in a competent court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Commandant Jamilu Abdu Indabawa commended the vigilance of the community and reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling vandalism, economic sabotage, and other criminal activities in Katsina State.
“We appreciate the continuous cooperation of the public and urge citizens to report any suspicious activities to security agencies promptly,” he said. “The NSCDC remains dedicated to safeguarding the lives and property of the good people of Katsina State.”
