The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, on Sunday led a powerful delegation to Katsina State on a heartfelt condolence visit following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
Accompanied by senior NSCDC officials including Assistant Commandant General Babangida Abdullahi Dutsinma (Commandant of the Corps’ College for Peace and Disaster Management), Kano Commandant CC AD Shafi’u, and Jigawa Commandant CC BB Bodinga, the delegation was warmly received by the Katsina State Commandant, Commandant of Corps Aminu Datti Ahmad.
The emotional visit began with the arrival of the NSCDC delegation at Aminu Kano International Airport before proceeding to Daura, the hometown of the late former President.
At the residence of Mallam Mamman Daura, elder statesman and brother to the late President, Professor Audi described Buhari as a “pillar of selfless service, sacrifice, and moral strength.” He prayed for the repose of his soul and Allah’s mercy in granting him Jannatul Firdaus.
The delegation also visited the family home of the late President and the palace of the Emir of Daura, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Faruk Umar Faruk, where prayers were offered in honour of Buhari’s memory.
While in Katsina, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda received the NSCDC leadership at the Government House. Professor Audi delivered a stirring tribute, saying: “President Muhammadu Buhari was not just a leader — he was a moral compass for Nigeria. His integrity, patriotism, and sense of discipline inspired not only our Corps but the entire nation.”
Governor Radda responded with deep appreciation, describing the NSCDC visit as “a comforting gesture of solidarity and national unity.” He hailed Buhari as “our father and conscience,” and thanked the Corps for its dedication to peace and community safety.
The day’s engagements ended at the palace of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji (Dr.) Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, CFR, where further condolences were extended and prayers were said.
The solemn visit underscored the deep respect and national grief following the passing of one of Nigeria’s most disciplined and revered leaders.
