The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deepened collaboration with key security and peace-building institutions to tackle security challenges in the state.
This followed a strategic meeting between the NSCDC and the Nigerian Army during a courtesy visit by the Commander of the 17 Brigade, Katsina, Brigadier General MI Ibrahim, to the State Commandant of the Corps, AD Moriki, at the Command Headquarters in Katsina on Friday.
Speaking during the visit, Brigadier General Ibrahim praised the long-standing working relationship between the Army and the NSCDC, assuring that the Brigade would strengthen the existing synergy to enhance safety and security across the state.
“NSCDC and the Nigeria Army have a long history of partnership, and that relationship will be further strengthened during my stay as Commander of the Brigade,” he said.
Responding, Commandant Moriki welcomed the new Brigade Commander to Katsina and commended the Nigerian Army for its sustained efforts in combating terrorism and other criminal activities.
He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to sustaining cooperation with the Army and other relevant stakeholders to improve security and protect lives and property.
“NSCDC will continue to cooperate and collaborate with the Nigeria Army and other relevant stakeholders to ensure safety and security for citizens of the state,” Moriki assured.
In a related development, the NSCDC Commandant also received the Director-General of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Joseph Ochogwu; the Katsina State Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Abdulrashid Sule; and the Acting Zonal Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Chinedu Ozugha, during a familiarisation visit to the command headquarters.
The visiting officials expressed appreciation for the warm reception and stressed the need to further strengthen cooperation among security and government institutions to address emerging threats.
Highlights of the visits included inspection of the quarter guard, presentation of souvenirs and group photographs.
