The Nigeria Police Force NPF has expressed deep concern over the rising misuse of the name and office of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) by fraudulent individuals, including some errant officers. These actions not only tarnish the image of the Force but also erode public trust.
Despite repeated warnings and disciplinary measures, some officers continue to engage in unprofessional conduct, with certain individuals falsely claiming the IGP’s endorsement to intimidate unsuspecting victims into silence.
The NPF urges the public to exercise caution when approached by anyone claiming connections with the IGP or other senior officers for illicit purposes. Any misconduct should be promptly reported to the appropriate authorities, including the Complaint Response Units or the state Commissioners of Police.
For direct reporting, the following contacts are available:
DCP Akin Fakorede, IGP Monitoring Unit: 08184077076
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force PRO: 08037168147
CSP Taiwo Oyewale, IGP Special Investigation Unit: 08069318238
SP Sherriff Lawal, ADC to the IGP: 08094712605
The NPF reaffirms its commitment to integrity, professionalism, and justice. Collaboration from the public is crucial in addressing these issues and ensuring accountability.
