NPF Condemns Spy Officer’s Political Comments: IGP Orders Arrest, Investigation

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has distanced itself from unauthorized political remarks made by a Supernumerary (Spy) Police Officer in a viral video concerning the Edo State gubernatorial elections.

Strongly condemning the action, the NPF clarified that the individual involved is not a regular officer but a privately employed Spy Officer.

Supernumerary Police Officers, although trained by the NPF, are not bound by the same allegiance as regular officers, yet engaging in political activities while in uniform is prohibited.

Following the video’s circulation, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has ordered the officer’s arrest and an investigation into the incident, reaffirming the NPF’s commitment to neutrality and professionalism.
