Northwest Peace, Security Summit: CG Audi Welcomes Vice President in Katsin

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD, OFR, along with other service chiefs, warmly received Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima GCON at the Umar Musa Yar’adua International Airport.

Vice President is in Katsina to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR at the inaugural North West Peace and Security Summit.

The two-day summit, themed “Regional Cooperation for Securing Lives and Livelihoods in North West Nigeria,” aims to tackle pressing security challenges in the region.

CG Audi, accompanied by high-ranking officials including ACG Babangida Abdullahi Dutsinma and Commandants from Katsina, Kano, Zamfara, and Sokoto, emphasized the Corps’ commitment to safety and security, highlighting renewed strategies for protecting critical national assets.

In his keynote address, VP Shettima outlined the Federal Government’s integrated approach to peace and security, combining military interventions with police reform, local policing enhancements, peacebuilding programs, and educational campaigns.

The summit gathers governors, ministers, traditional rulers, community leaders, security experts, and international partners.

Notable attendees include Former President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, and ministers Muhammadu Badaru, Ahmed Dangiwa, and Hanatu Musawa, along with IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun and Sultan of Sokoto Muhammadu Saad Abubakar.
