Former Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, has raised alarm over the dire state of education in Northern Nigeria, revealing that no state in the region has a workforce of 50% qualified teachers. Speaking at a recent education summit, Dr. Aliyu described the situation as a “time bomb,” warning that it threatens the region’s development and competitiveness.
He urged Northern governors to prioritize teacher training and recruitment, emphasizing that the future of millions of children hangs in the balance. “Without qualified educators, we are building a house on sinking sand,” he cautioned.
