North-East Governors Storm Jalingo for 12th Forum Meeting

The city of Jalingo came alive on Friday night as governors of the North-East converged for a colorful gala ahead of the 12th meeting of the North-East Governors’ Forum (NEGF).

Hosted by Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the event at the Government House Banquet Hall was graced by their Excellencies: Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno, who chairs the Forum; Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa; Bala Mohammed of Bauchi; Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe; and Mai Mala Buni of Yobe.

The night was a spectacle of culture, with dazzling performances from traditional and contemporary groups showcasing the rich heritage of Taraba and the wider North-East region.

In his remarks, Governor Zulum lauded Governor Kefas and the people of Taraba for their warm hospitality, describing the evening as a perfect curtain-raiser for the crucial deliberations ahead.
“This evening’s cultural display and the spirit of camaraderie have perfectly set the tone for what we anticipate will be a highly productive meeting,” Zulum said, noting that discussions will center on insecurity, poverty reduction, and tackling infrastructure deficits.

Welcoming his colleagues, Governor Kefas stressed the importance of unity, saying the forum remains a vital platform for charting collaborative strategies to achieve sustainable peace and shared prosperity.
“The challenges before us require solidarity and brotherhood. Together, we can accelerate the development of our region,” he declared.

The 12th North-East Governors’ Forum meeting officially kicks off today, Saturday, at 10:00am, at the Taraba State Government House, Jalingo.
