NOA Urges Katsina Tertiary Institutions to Facilitate Students’ Access to NELFUND Loans

Borno State Government

The Katsina State Directorate of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on tertiary institutions across the state to fast-track their registration with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) portal to enable students benefit from the Federal Government’s student loan scheme.

State Director of NOA, Alhaji Muntari Lawal Tsagem, made the appeal while stressing the need for institutions to fulfill all necessary online registration requirements linking them to the NELFUND platform.

According to him, the failure of some institutions to comply has denied many students access to the Federal Government loan — a key pillar of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative aimed at easing the financial burden of higher education.

Tsagem explained that under the NELFUND scheme, tuition fees are paid directly to institutions, while students receive a monthly upkeep allowance of ₦20,000 to support their studies.

He further urged Students’ Union leaders across tertiary institutions in Katsina to sensitize their members on the benefits of the scheme and encourage mass participation, emphasizing that the Federal Government has set aside substantial funds to ensure that no willing student is left behind.
