The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Katsina State Directorate, has kicked off a statewide voter registration sensitization campaign with a grand flag-off at Charanchi Market on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Speaking at the event, the State Director of NOA, Malam Muntari Lawal Tsagem, said the initiative is aimed at mobilizing youths of voting age to register and encouraging those with issues on their voter cards to visit the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for corrections ahead of the next elections.
He explained that the campaign will cover major markets and tertiary institutions across the state to ensure that both rural and urban dwellers are adequately reached.
Malam Tsagem cautioned against multiple registrations, stressing that it could lead to the cancellation of one’s name from the voters’ register. He advised first-time registrants to pre-register online via www.inec.org.ng before completing the process at INEC offices. He also urged those who lost their cards, wished to transfer, or had defaced cards to approach INEC for proper updates instead of registering afresh.
“INEC is already tackling cases of defaced cards and spelling errors. What we need is for more Katsina citizens to register so that our voter strength truly reflects our population in the national demographic distribution,” the NOA boss emphasized.
He further called on residents to support the government’s ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in the state while also appreciating both Federal and State projects being executed.
Malam Tsagem appealed to citizens to demonstrate patriotism by being law-abiding and participating actively in nation-building through their civic responsibilities.
