No Safe Haven: Akwa Ibom State Police Command Cracks Down on Drug Dealers, Issues Final Ultimatum

Borno State Government

UYO — The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has launched an intensified intelligence-driven crackdown on dealers of Indian hemp and other illicit substances, declaring that drug barons and peddlers now have “no hiding place” in the state.

Coordinated raids carried out across identified criminal flashpoints led to multiple arrests and the recovery of significant quantities of suspected prohibited drugs. Police sources confirmed that the operations were executed simultaneously based on actionable intelligence, targeting known hideouts linked to drug trafficking.

Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, has ordered sustained enforcement actions, issuing a firm warning to all those involved in the illegal trade to either desist immediately or leave Akwa Ibom State.

“The Command will not stand by while our youths are lured into addiction and criminality,” the CP warned, linking the proliferation of illicit drugs to cultism, armed robbery, violent crimes, and moral decline within communities.

He stressed that surveillance systems have been strengthened, intelligence networks expanded, and collaboration with sister agencies reinforced to dismantle drug distribution chains.

The Command called on parents, traditional rulers, and youth leaders to provide credible information, assuring residents that anyone who ignores the final warning will face arrest, prosecution, and the full weight of the law.

With the latest operation, police authorities insist that Akwa Ibom is closing ranks against narcotics — and the battle against drug trafficking will remain relentless.
