The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has drawn a bold red line, warning that courtrooms—not street theatrics—will decide justice in the ongoing case involving Princess God’sown Udoito.
Rising to halt what it described as dangerous rhetoric and threats capable of unsettling public peace, the Police Command cautioned individuals and groups against resorting to protests or actions aimed at intimidating the judiciary. According to the Command, the matter is already before a competent court, and any attempt to hijack the legal process through lawlessness will be firmly resisted.
Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare stressed that the Nigeria Police Force acts strictly within the ambit of the law, insisting that arrests and prosecutions are products of thorough investigation—not public pressure or sentiment.
While acknowledging citizens’ rights to lawful expression and peaceful assembly, the Police made it clear that certain actions will not be tolerated under any guise. These include unlawful protests, disruption of public or private activities, occupation of facilities, or any conduct capable of threatening peace, safety, or public morality in Akwa Ibom State.
The warning was unambiguous: any group or individual testing the law will face immediate arrest and prosecution.
Advising restraint, the Command urged all aggrieved parties to seek redress through legal channels and allow the courts to do their job, rather than ignite tensions that could destabilize the state.
As Akwa Ibom enjoys a climate of calm and stability, the Police reassured residents of their unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property—making it clear that there will be zero tolerance for lawlessness dressed up as protest.
