NLC Rejects ₦62k Wage, Demands ₦250k

Katsina state government

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have declared the proposed minimum wages of ₦62,000 and ₦100,000 as grossly insufficient, reiterating their demand for ₦250,000.

If the Federal Government and National Assembly fail to act by Tuesday, Labour warns of a potential strike resumption.

Chris Onyeka, NLC’s Assistant General Secretary, made this clear on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief show, stressing, “We will not negotiate a starvation wage.”

Labour insists the government must respond with tangible action or face the consequences of a renewed nationwide strike.
